All the images within Wildwood are drawn with colour pencil. For skin tones and smooth blending I use Karisma/Prismacolor, while Faber Castelle’s Polychromos are good all-round pencils. When I want fast expressive strokes I use Derwent Coloursoft or Derwent Drawing, these latter come in a good range of earth hues. I work on mid-tone grey pastel paper, which makes the colours look more vivid. Sometimes I use a scalpel to scratch lines in dark areas for fine detail such as cobwebs or hair.
